February 13, 2012
Dear Local Business Owners in the Gateway Arts District, MyGatewayArts.org is a FREE online portal for promoting and learning about arts-related activities in the Gateway Arts District. It's also the community's best tool to market or search for artists, designers, arts-related organizations and businesses in the Gateway Arts District. Visitors to the Arts District can use it as well as our other developing tools as a roadmap of places to check out in the area. As the new Content Manager for the Gateway Arts District's community portal, www.MyGatewayArts.org, I invite you to list your business for free on MyGatewayArts.org. Operated by the Gateway and the Hyattsville Community Development Corporations, we are expanding the website's capacity this Spring to make sure every artist and arts-related business in the Arts District is listed. If you'd like your business listed, please fill out our online form at http://bit.ly/mygatewayartsbusinesslocator, and I will be happy to add your listing! I also have an Adobe PDF you can print out that I can stop by and pick up if you'd like. Lastly, please also let me know if you're interested in being interviewed for our upcoming "Gateway on Foot" walking tour series, where we'll interview business owners to hear more about each business in order to promote patronage. Thanks for your time, please contact me if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns. ROUTE 1 RIDE COLLABORATIVE ISSUES BUS WRAP CALL FOR ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS
January 31, 2012
ROUTE 1 RIDE COLLABORATIVE ISSUES BUS WRAP CALL FOR ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS; SPONSORS JURIED PUBLIC ART COMPETITION Local non-profits, the University of Maryland, County leaders, and municipal governments along the inner-Beltway, Route 1 Corridor team up to bring forward a public art competition: “the Route 1 Wrap,” to create mobile public artworks by wrapping three Route One Ride buses with an original design. Contact: Stuart Eisenberg (Hyattsville CDC) (301) 683-8267 eisenberg@hyattsvillecdc.org The purpose of the Route 1 Wrap is to promote the many arts, cultural, and entertainment amenities along the Route 1 Corridor and to increase ridership on the Route 1 Ride as a way to visit these destinations. The revamped Prince George’s County TheBus: Route 17, with its enhanced service capacity, will soon showcase exciting original artwork while conveniently delivering its passengers to their destinations. With the Route 1 Wrap, inner beltway communities are bringing a renewed energy and resolve to manifesting their sustainability initiatives, while touting the strategic advantages and the unique charms of living, working, and playing in Prince George’s County’s Route One Corridor Communities. The visibly effective revitalization efforts, infrastructure improvements and enhanced connectivity of the Corridor: from the College Park-based IKEA shopping center to the ever changing University of Maryland campus and on down into the Gateway Arts District, represent an unprecedented series of collaborations leading to improved development and are serving to build a new sense of place and pride for Route 1 centered institutions. For information on the Route 1 Wrap Call for Artists or the enhanced-service Route 1 Ride please visit www.Route1Ride.com or www.hycdc.org.
